Is my web browser up-to-date?
You will learn how to check to see if your Chrome web browser is up-to-date and ready for use in Canvas. Other web browsers may have a similar process for enabling or disabling features.
1. Go to this Instructure webpage.
This Instructure (owner of Canvas) web page will check your web browser to see whether it has all of the necessary components installed and enabled in order to effectively utilize Canvas, including JavaScript, Cookies, Local storage and Session storage.
2. Verify your web browser version.

JavaScript, Cookies, Local storage and Session storage
If the webpage looks like this, then you need to enable JavaScript.
This is an easy fix in Chrome.
Follow these steps to enable JavaScript in Chrome.
1. Click on the Three Dots menu.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Privacy and security.
4. Click on Site settings.
5. Scroll down to JavaScript and click on it.
6. Click on Sites can use JavaScript.
7. Refresh the Instructure web browser check page.
8. This page should now display properly.
Tip: if it is still not working, you should check to see if you have a browser extension which is blocking JavaScript, such as uBlock Origin or Cookie Delete.
Follow these steps to enable third-party cookies in Chrome.
1. Click on the Three Dots menu.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Privacy and security.
4. Click on Site settings.
5. Scroll down to JavaScript and click on it.
6. Click on Allow third-party cookies.
Your cookies are now set to allow the apps that work with Canvas to work properly.
Enabling cookies should automatically enable local storage. Local storage might be retained after closing the web browser depending upon your browser settings.
Enabling cookies should automatically enable Session storage. Session storage is a little different than local storage. Session storage is by browser tab and is cleared when the tab is closed.
