Student: How do I resolve issues I encounter on my iPad/iPhone or other mobile device when using the Canvas App?
You will learn some steps to take if you encounter an issue while trying to use the Canvas App on your iPad/iPhone or other mobile device.
First off, it is recommended that you use a laptop or desktop when taking exams or other high-stakes assignments.
Possible steps to take:
- Check to make sure you have latest update for the app.
- Logout and log back in to the app.
- Clear the cache.
- Use a web browser on a computer instead, especially for important assignments.
- Contact Student HelpDesk or Student Genius Center.
If you encounter a problem with the Canvas app, such as a Lock icon for a course, it may be that the professor has the grade totals hidden in the gradebook, and not actually anything wrong with your Canvas App or iPad/iPhone.
However, if you are encountering some issues on your device, follow these steps to clear the cache, or better yet, uninstall the Canvas App. Go to the App Store. Then, reinstall. This will ensure you have the latest version of the Canvas app and that you have a fresh login.
Follow these steps to clear the cache on an iPad or iPhone.
1. Tap on the Settings icon.
2. Tap on Apps.
3. Tap on Canvas.
4. Move the slider called Reset cache on next launch.
Follow these steps to clear the cache on an Android device.
1. Tap on Settings.
2. Tap on Apps.
3. Tap on Canvas.
4. Tap on Storage & Cache.
5. Tap on Clear Cache.
If clearing the cache or deleting the app and reinstalling the app does not fix the issue, then contact the Student HelpDesk or Student Genius Center for assistance.
