What is the Cidiscape Task Runner and why is it creating files in my course?

You will learn about the Cidiscape Task Runner and why it is creating/uploading files to your course in Canvas.

If you have your course notifications turned on to receive an email every time a new file is added to your course or if you are in the Files area of your course and notice a new folder called Alternate Files, you might have become concerned about new files being added to your course without your input.

Tip: If you have your course notifications set to receive an email notification when files are added to your course, you should receive an email after student-requested alternate formats have been created by the Cidiscape Task Runner.

If you look in your Files page in your course, you will see a new folder called "Alternate Files".

First off, the Cidiscape Task Runner is part of the UDOIT suite Cal State Fullerton uses within Canvas to create a more accessible learning environment for our students. Students within your course can use the dropdown menu next to a file to request an alternate format of that file to improve access and ease of use.

The dropdown menu is available on the Modules page as well as within Pages, Discussions, and Assignments.
