How do I convert a Question Bank to an Item Bank?
You will learn how to convert your Question Banks (used in Classic Quizzes) to Item Banks (for use with New Quizzes).
These steps assume you have already created Question Banks and now want to use those same sets of questions in a New Quizzes quiz.
1. Enter your course and click on Quizzes.
2. Click on + Quiz.
3. Select Classic Quizzes.
4. Click on Submit.
5. Type a name for the quiz.
6. Click on the Questions tab.
1. Click on +New Question Group.
2. Name the group.
Tip: Naming the group helps to keep you organized if you are adding more than one group.
3. Click on Link to a Question Bank.
4. Select the desired Question Bank.
5. Click on Select Bank.
6. Click on Create Group.
7. Repeat until you have linked all of the Question Banks you want to copy, then click on Save.
You can use this same course or a different course when importing this content. However, if you are using this course, you should import only one time.
1. Click on Settings.
2. Click on Import Course Content.
3. Use the dropdown menu to select Copy a Canvas Course.
4. Type the name of the course and then select it from the list.
5. Click on Select specific content.
6. Tick the box to Import existing quizzes as New Quizzes.
7. Click on Import.
8. Click on Select Content.
9. Tick the boxes for the Quizzes you want and the Question banks that are linked to that quiz.
Note: If you select any Question Banks that are not linked to a Quiz, then they will not be converted to Item Banks. Only Question Banks that are linked to a Quiz will be converted.
10. Click on Select Content.
11. After a few minutes, click on Quizzes.
12. Wait for the import to complete.
Note any questions that didn't convert.
13. Once the conversion is complete, click on Item Banks.
14. All of the Question Banks you linked to your Quiz have now been converted to Item Banks and are shared with this course.
Note: Not only will these new item banks be listed under the This Course select but also under Shared with me. They may be listed in multiple places but are the same item banks. If you edit one, it edits it everywhere. Use this guide to learn how to manage item banks.
