What is the process for partially remediated files in Access Hub?
You will learn how partially remediated files in Access Hub are handled and what your part in the remediation process is.
Follow these steps after you have activated Access Hub within your course.
3. Look at the large boxes at the top of the page.
The first box (1) is the number of files found in your course. In this case, 21.
The second box (2) is the number of files which qualify for remediation. So, the Access Hub can only attempt to remediate 17 of the 21 files. The other 4 are file types it cannot remediate.
The third box (3) is the number of files that have currently already been remediated. These are the files that are ready to replace the original files in your course.
The fourth box (4) is the number of files that have been partially remediated. They require some intervention on your part to finish remediating or confirmation for replacing the originals. These files should be now more accessible than before but not at 100%.
The fifth box (5) is the number of files that are currently in the remediation queue.
The sixth box (6) is the number of remediated files that have replaced the originals in your Canvas course.
5. Click on Partially Remediated.
On this page, we can filter the files by All, In progress, Fully remediated, Partially remediated and Failed by clicking on the desired filter.
6. The partially remediated files display in a list.
You can see how 2 files have been partially remediated. Now, these files are likely more accessible than the originals, but were not fully fixable by the automated process.
At this point, you can publish the files to your Canvas course, or you can review the file to see what has and what has not been remediated (this choice will also allow you to download the original file or download the remediated file).
Follow these steps to publish the partially remediated files.
2. Click on Publish 2 to Canvas.
Tip: The button name will change according to the number of files selected.
Follow these steps to learn about which remediation changes were made and which could not be made.
Note that Access Hub does not have an interface where you can make a selection in order to fix an outstanding issue. It simply lists the issues.
2. Click on Found.
On this screen, you have buttons for issues Found (1), Fixed (2) and Remaining (3).
6. Scroll down the page and click on Publish to Canvas.
Only click on Publish to Canvas, if you want to replace your original file in Canvas with this partially remediated one. Note that you can reverse this process afterward.
7. You can download the remediated file by clicking on Download remediated.
You might want to do this if you want to view the remediated file to see if there are any visual differences or if you want to run the accessibility checker with Adobe Acrobat (since this happens to be a PDF file) or some other app.
8. Click on Restore original, if you are unsatisfied with the replacement.
This will replace the remediated file with the original that is still stored in Access Hub. Access Hub holds both the original file and the remediated file. You can replace either one or download either one.
