I have a student whose submission is not in the Preview and I have no Turnitin score, what can I do?
If your SpeedGrader looks like this screenshot below, meaning that it shows that the student submitted the assignment, but does not have a file linked, does not have a Preview, and offers you the button to Resubmit for Plargiarism Review, then you should follow the steps laid out in this guide.
You will learn how to request assistance to obtain the missing student submission.
SpeedGrader showing a missing student submission
Even though this might appear to be a Canvas problem, it is not. When you use Turnitin within a Canvas Assignment, students submissions are sent from Canvas to Turnitin. Turnitin runs the Similarity Report, then sends the submission back to Canvas. In this case, it would appear that the submission got stuck in Turnitin, so to fix this situation, Turnitin Support needs to push the report back to Canvas.
If you are comfortable with contacting the Turnitin Support Center, you can do that directly to submit a help ticket. Provide the URL to your course and the assignment, the name of the course, for example, "Fall 2026 BIOL 151-01 12345", your name as the Teacher of the course, and the name(s) of the student whose report needs to be pushed back to Canvas.
If you prefer to use the phone, you could submit a ticket to schedule a phone call.
If you would like some assistance with Turnitin, please contact the Canvas Consultants at [email protected] or Canvas Admin at [email protected] or the HelpDesk at [email protected].
