How do I copy a Classic Quiz (which uses a question bank) to another course?
You will learn how to copy a Classic Quiz which uses a question group which links to a question bank. The quiz, along with the question bank, will be copied to the desired course.
Follow these steps to copy/import only a Quiz and its associated question bank (and files).
The Copy To... tool in the Three Dots menu will likely not copy the question bank and might not copy images, videos, file attachments or other elements you may have in your questions, so if you are using question banks with images, videos, etc, do not use this method.
The Copy To... tool is only good for when the questions are in the Quiz, not in question bank.
Verify whether your questions have any images, videos, or file attachments.
1. Identify the name of the quiz and the name of the question bank.
In this case, the quiz and the question bank both have the same name of "Chapter 2 Knowledge Check".
2. Enter your destination course (or new course) and click on Import Existing Content.
This button is usually on the course entry page, but if you don't see it, go to the Settings page where it will definitely be shown.
3. Use the dropdown menu to select Copy a Canvas Course.
4. Type in part of the name of the course or use the dropdown menu to select your course.
5. Select the radio button for Select specific content.
6. Tick the box for Adjust events and due dates.
7. Tick the box for Remove dates.
Generally speaking, it is a good idea to remove the due dates because once in a while, if the destination course is published with students, students might be given a 0 in the gradebook, so it is best to remove the dates (if they are already past), then after importing the quiz, add new dates.
8. Click on Import.
