Student: How do I take a Canvas Quiz with Respondus LockDown Browser?

You will learn how to take a "Classic Quizzes" quiz or "New Quizzes" quiz in Canvas using the Respondus LockDown browser app.

1. Install LockDown Browser on a Compatible Device.

Download and install the app from the LockDown Browser Install Link. Only this version of the LockDown Browser will work with Classic Quizzes.

Respondus LockDown Browser is compatible on computers using Windows 10 (or newer), Mac OS 10.13 (or newer), or Chrome OS.  iPhone, iPad, and Android devices are not currently supported. Details on minimum requirements are available at the LockDown Browser Minumum Requirements Guide.

Confirm LockDown Browser is working by taking a Classic Quiz.

Confirm the LockDown Browser is working by enrolling yourself in the LockDown Browser Practice Quiz course and taking each of the quizzes in the course.

2. Click the "Enroll in Course" button.

3. Click the "Go to the Course" button.

4. Start the LockDown Browser app.

5. Close any running screen capture apps.

Either close them manually or allow The LockDown Browser app to attempt to close them. Screen capture apps might include apps like PowerPoint, SnagIt, Camtasia, Screencastomatic, etc.

6. Log in to the CSUF Portal when prompted.

7. Click on the 'Respondus LockDown Browser Practice Quiz' course on your Dashboard or find it in the Courses menu.

8. Click on the title of the quiz.

9. Click on Take the Quiz.

10. Begin the quiz as you normally do.

11. Click on Submit Quiz when finished.

12. Click on the X to exit the LockDown Browser.

Confirm LockDown Browser is working by taking a New Quizzes Quiz.

A New Quizzes quiz allows you to login to Canvas using your regular browser initially and then transition to LockDown Browser. If you click on a New Quizzes quiz, you will be prompted to launch the LockDown Browser app.

Confirm the LockDown Browser is working by enrolling yourself in the LockDown Browser Practice Quiz course and taking each of the quizzes in the course.

2. Click the "Enroll in Course" button.

3. Click the "Go to the Course" button.

4. After installing the LockDown Browser, navigate to the "Respondus LockDown Browser Practice Quiz" course on your Canvas Dashboard.

5. Click on the New Quizzes quiz.

7. Click on Yes, if prompted.

8. Wait for the browser to load.

11. Answer the quiz questions.
