How do I pass back the scores in Mentimeter to my course in Canvas?

In this guide, you will learn how to sync Mentimeter results back to your Canvas course. Depending on how the activity is being used, you can sync participation, attendance, or quiz results to Canvas using the Sync to LMS option in Mentimeter.

Once your class, session or survey has ended, you can sync results from Mentimeter to your LMS gradebook.

Warning: For grade syncing to be possible, you must have enabled Collect participant names under the Permissions tab in your workspace settings.

1. Log in to your Mentimeter account

You can log in to Mentimeter using the Mentimeter login page.

2. Select the Menti activity you want to sync with Canvas

Tip: You can find your Menti activities either through Home, Recents, or My Mentis

3. Click on "Results"

Info: You will notice that once students have submitted their responses, you will see a number count next to "Results" in the upper center of the page. In this example, we have 3 results.

4. Click on "Sync to LMS"

5. Select grades to sync: Attendance or Participation

Info: Select the option that best fits how you want to grade the activity:

  • Attendance: Tracks whether a student joined the Menti and answered at least one question.
  • Participation: Tracks how much a student contributed by answering questions or voting.

6. Mentimeter will now synchronize the results

Info: At this point, Mentimeter will sync the results to your Canvas gradebook.

Alert: Please keep the tab open and wait until you see a checkmark confirming that the synchronization is complete.

7. Grades are now synced

Info: Once the sync is complete, go to your Canvas Gradebook. You will see a new entry for the Mentimeter session.

Tip: If you and your students have grade notifications enabled in Canvas, notifications may be sent automatically once the grades have been synced.
