Ensure that the YouTube captions will still play.

A bit of finagling may be required to ensure that you don't lose the YouTube-based captions when migrating to Canvas Studio.

PUBLIC: If the YouTube video is set to "Public", then the captions should be embedded into Studio along with the video. You don't need to follow either of these steps below.

UNLISTED: If the YouTube video is set to "Unlisted", then the captions will likely not be embedded into Studio along with the video. However, you can follow these steps as a workaround.

You must be the owner of the video (meaning it is in your YouTube account), in order to use either of the two methods outlined below.

Method 1

Follow these steps to change the Unlisted video to Public. You can then use the migration tool to convert the video and obtain the captions, then change the video back to Unlisted.

Tip: If you want to edit the captions, then use Method 2 instead.

1. Login to your YouTube account and click on your profile icon.

This can be your CSUF account or your personal account. It doesn't matter as long as the video is in your YouTube account.
